On Thursday, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Ayman Safadi discussed with His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, UAE Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, the serious repercussions of the recent “Israeli” extremist incursions and violations at the Al-Aqsa Mosque/Temple Mount that occurred last Tuesday.

The two ministers condemned these incursions, particularly the provocative entry by extremist “Israeli” Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir into the Al-Aqsa Mosque, describing it as a dangerous escalation that heightens tensions and fuels conflict amidst the current regional crisis – per the Foreign Ministry’s statement.

They discussed joint steps to address these violations and mobilize international support to uphold the historical and legal status of Jerusalem and its holy sites.

His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan emphasized the importance of respecting the historical Hashemite custodianship and its role in safeguarding Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem.

He stressed the need to respect the jurisdiction of the Jordanian Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs over the management of the Al-Aqsa Mosque, highlighting Jordan’s exclusive authority in these matters.

He also affirmed the UAE’s full solidarity with Jordan and support for all measures taken to protect sacred sites.

Both ministers stressed the necessity of achieving an immediate ceasefire to end the humanitarian disaster in Gaza, adhering to international law, and halting illegal actions across all occupied Palestinian territories. They expressed support for the efforts of Egypt, Qatar, and the United States in seeking a prisoner exchange deal.
